THE FIRST DATE FRAMEWORK

What to pay attention to, what to reveal and what to withhold, and how to leave a first date knowing exactly what you are dealing with — without running a checklist.

// Before You Go — Your Mindset
You are evaluating her as much as she is evaluating you. Hold that frame.
A first date is an audition — for both of you. You are not there to win her approval.
The goal is not to impress. The goal is to observe and be genuinely yourself.
Keep it 60–90 minutes maximum. Easy exit. No long elaborate plans on a first date.
// What To Pay Attention To
Is she on time? Punctuality is a basic signal of whether she values your time.
How does she treat the staff — servers, hosts, anyone you encounter?
Is she present in the conversation or distracted and self-referential?
Does she ask questions about you or steer every topic back to herself?
Is her energy consistent from the first 10 minutes to the last 10 minutes?
Does she contribute to the conversation or make you carry all of it?
// What To Reveal and What To Hold
Reveal: your interests, your direction, what you are building, what you value.
Hold: your finances, your detailed dating history, anything designed to impress.
Do not over-share. Mystery is not manipulation — it is appropriate pacing.
Do not make promises or future plans unless you genuinely intend to keep them.
// Signals Worth Noting
She offers to contribute to the bill — not because she has to, but because she wants to. Signal.
She mentions past relationships with contempt and no self-reflection. Red flag.
She is warm and engaged throughout — not just at the end when she is trying to secure a second date.
She follows up first after the date ends. Genuine interest. Note it.
// The Question To Ask Yourself After
Not "do I want to see her again?" — you already know that answer.
Ask: "Did I see anything tonight that required me to look away?"
If the answer is yes — take that seriously regardless of the attraction.
